Maîtres de l'improvisation... Silver, Hardman, Maupin

Horace Silver: Son jeu de piano très percussif et son sens du swing inouï en font l'un des fondateurs du jazz « funky ». Mais derrière la gaieté et la sophistication de ses thèmes se cache souvent une intense mélancolie teinté de nostalgie.
Bennie Maupin is noted for having a harmonically-advanced, "out" improvisation style, while having a different sense of melodic direction than other "out" jazz musicians such as Eric Dolphy. As a composer, he has an ability to create brief melodies and song forms that create vast landscapes for improvisation.
Bill Hardman: A most underrated musician. A crackling hard bop player with blazing technique, crisp articulations, and a no-frills sound, Hardman later incorporated into his sound the fuller, more extroverted romantic passion of a Clifford Brown - a direction he would take increasingly throughout the late-1960s and 1970s.
